Arena is a free
Graphical User Interface (GUI) for chess. Arena assists you
in analyzing and playing games as well as in testing chess
engines. It runs on Windows XP or higher or on Linux with
Wine 1.0 or higher. Arena is compatible to Winboard protocol
I, II and UCI protocol I, II. Furthermore, compatible to
Chess960, DGT electronic chess board & DGT clock XP, Novag
Citrine, Autoplayer, ICS (chess servers) and much more. |

Shane's Chess
Information Database is a powerful Chess Toolkit, with which
one can create huge databases, run chess engines, and play
casual games against the computer or online with the Free
Internet Chess Server. It was originally written by Shane
Hudson , and has received strong contribution from Pascal

Tarrasch
is a simple computerized chess workbench. Use it to play
against the computer, analyze positions, create and edit
chess documents. Tarrasch is intended to be simpler than any
other chess GUI to use. Tarrasch doesn't restrict your
freedom. Move the pieces around the board, setup any
position, start playing against the engine of your choice
with either color from any position at any time. Change the
clock settings at any time, go ahead, give yourself a nice
time handicap against the engine! You can even set the
clocks to be visible and running when you're not playing the
engine, that way the GUI serves as a simple board, men and
clocks for a game against a real human opponent. |

Arasan is a chess
program for Windows, Linux and Mac OS free download. The
latest version is Arasan 17.4, released in October, 2014.
Arasan has both a native user interface (for Windows only)
and a console-based chess engine for use with Winboard or
xboard. Arasan also works with Arena, another free chess
interface, and with UCI-compatible programs like Fritz and
Chessbase. Arasan includes an opening "book" with over
500,000 moves. |
